This project involved the complete editorial and visual direction of the book, from cover to interior.
The design brings together cover design, interior layout, and a cohesive typographic system, creating a consistent visual language throughout the publication. Archival photographs were carefully edited and framed to reflect a 1950s–60s aesthetic, reinforcing the historical context of the content.
The cover illustrations were also developed as part of this process, contributing to a unified visual identity across the book.
The Lotus Skyliners documents the history of a Japanese American big band that played a significant role in its community during the 1950s and 1960s. Authored by Randy Tada with Kay Hirai, the book brings together historical records, personal stories, and archival material to preserve the legacy of the band.
The project was commissioned by Chin Music Press.
